Learn.
Experience. Act.
Atelier Théâtre Burkinabè designs and delivers training programmes tailored to the needs of organisations and field practitioners. Our approach combines artistic practice, participation and Theatre for Development to turn training into a genuine space for dialogue, experimentation and shared learning.
ATB training programmes can be delivered in Burkina Faso and across the sub-region, according to the needs of participating organisations and communities.
Turning training into a collective experience.
ATB's specialised workshops and training programmes draw on decades of artistic practice and social engagement. Each programme is designed around the issues, audiences and objectives of the participating organisation or community.
Rather than limiting learning to theoretical instruction, ATB uses performance, role-play, dialogue and participation to enable participants to explore real-life issues and experiment with possible responses.
Expertise adapted to different audiences.
ATB designs each intervention according to the needs expressed and the context in which participants operate.

Social Awareness
Turn complex social issues into accessible situations that can be experienced, explored and discussed collectively.
Theatre for Development: learning through participation.
Theatre for Development places participants at the heart of the process. An issue is not simply explained: it is performed, questioned and explored through action.
Bring reality onto the stage
A situation inspired by social or professional realities becomes the basis for theatrical exploration.
Open the dialogue
The Joker facilitates discussion and invites the audience to analyse what is happening on stage.
Become a “spect-actor”
A spectator can step onto the stage, replace a character and experiment with a different way of responding to the situation.
From real-life issues to collective experimentation.
Each intervention is designed as a process in which participants become active contributors to their own learning.

Working with participants, not simply speaking to them.
The strength of ATB's approach lies in active participation. The stage becomes a laboratory where participants can observe, question, propose ideas and experiment with different responses.
Active learning
Participants are not simply passive recipients of information.
Context-based situations
Activities can be built around realities experienced by the audience or organisation.
Dialogue at the centre
Theatre creates a space where different experiences, perspectives and proposals can be heard.
